Clearing the Closet: A New Chapter of Clarity, Conviction, and Purpose

Something has shifted in me.

Not from anger. Not from bitterness. Not from wanting to hold onto the past.

Something deeper.

A realization. A clarity. A decision.

I have reached a point where I am simply over the unnecessary noise — the excuses, the dishonesty, the manipulation, the broken promises, and the situations where people take advantage of trust and kindness. For too long, I have allowed things to linger that should have been addressed. I have tolerated behavior that did not align with my values because I wanted to believe in the best in people.

That part of me will always exist. I believe people deserve fairness, understanding, and an opportunity to do the right thing.

But clarity comes when you recognize that giving someone the benefit of the doubt repeatedly does not mean ignoring patterns.

This is not a negative transformation. It is actually one of the most positive and freeing experiences I have had in a long time.

I am cleaning out my closet — personally, professionally, and emotionally.

I am becoming more intentional, more direct, and more clear in everything I do. Not because I care less about people, but because I care more about what truly matters.

At the top of that list is Brandee and our animals.

They are my foundation. They are my family. They are the ones who have stood beside me through every chapter — the successes, the challenges, the uncertainty, and the moments where life tested my patience and my character.

My responsibility is to protect the life we have built together and to make decisions that honor that commitment.

For years — actually decades — I have given people tremendous amounts of grace. I have offered second chances. I have made excuses for people. I have looked for reasons to believe that someone’s actions did not represent who they really were.

Many times, that trust was rewarded.

But there have also been many times when it was not.

I have been burned. I have been disappointed. I have watched people walk away after I invested time, energy, trust, and loyalty.

And you know what?

I do not take that personally anymore.

Their actions are their choices. Their decisions represent them — not me.

If someone chooses dishonesty over integrity, selfishness over partnership, or short-term gain over doing what is right, that is their missed opportunity.

Not mine.

One of the greatest gifts in my life was the example my dad gave me.

My dad had incredible common sense. He had an unbelievable work ethic. He was a problem solver. He did not look for excuses — he looked for solutions.

Those lessons have served me my entire life, and today they are serving me more than ever.

I know my dad would be proud of the person I have become.

He would be proud that I have remained a decent, trusting, and honest person. He would be proud that I have tried to treat people fairly and that I have always attempted to do the right thing.

But I also believe he would remind me that kindness and strength must exist together.

Being a good person does not mean allowing yourself to be taken advantage of.

Being trusting does not mean ignoring reality.

Being compassionate does not mean avoiding difficult decisions.

One area where I know I am continuing to grow is in clarity and communication. I have always had strong convictions. I have always known what I believed was right. But sometimes I waited too long to clearly communicate those convictions and make decisive choices.

That is changing.

The next chapter is about alignment.

Alignment between my values and my actions.

Alignment between the people I surround myself with and the standards I believe in.

Alignment between what I say matters and what I actually prioritize.

This is not about closing doors out of anger.

It is about opening the right doors with intention.

It is about protecting the people and things that matter most.

It is about appreciating those who have earned trust while no longer wasting energy chasing those who have chosen otherwise.

I am incredibly grateful for the lessons, even the painful ones. Every experience has shaped me, strengthened me, and helped me understand what truly matters.

The future is exciting.

The focus is clear.

Family. Integrity. Innovation. Purpose.

And moving forward with the confidence that comes from finally being fully aligned with who I am.
