{"id":1784,"date":"2014-08-02T11:37:19","date_gmt":"2014-08-02T18:37:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/?p=1784"},"modified":"2024-09-28T14:34:53","modified_gmt":"2024-09-28T22:34:53","slug":"summer-breeze-in-japan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/summer-breeze-in-japan\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer Breeze in Japan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Japan in the summer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/jal001.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1786\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/jal001-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"jal001\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>When it takes half-a-day of travel (~12 hours) to get somewhere, and half-a-day of travel back (~10 hours because of a nice tail-wind) there must be lessons-learned and experiences to share. \u00a0Taking into account the obvious items such as the travel itself and those experiences, there is always something particularly special when traveling to Japan. \u00a0This week I was fortunate to travel to the great country of Japan again, and in particular the Yokohama area. \u00a0The fantastic Japanese spirit is so infectious that I wish to share with everyone reading this message.<\/p>\n<p><strong>My Colleagues<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/handshake-icon.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-1788 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/handshake-icon-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"handshake-icon\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>First, and foremost, I should acknowledge my fantastic co-workers.\u00a0 They are simply the best; period!\u00a0 They make every trip to Japan work so smoothly and they are the team the truly makes everything successful. \u00a0The cooperation and teamwork among the team is fantastic. \u00a0I am so grateful to work with such a talented and gracious team.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lesson Learned<\/strong><br \/>\nThe weather.\u00a0 The Lesson Learned is that in the summer time period in Japan make sure \u201cCool Biz\u201d (<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cool_Biz_campaign\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cool_Biz_campaign<\/a>) is acceptable.\u00a0 It basically means that in hot weather, shirts with short-sleeves or other comfortable clothing is acceptable in these conditions.\u00a0 Cool Biz serves a few important purposes.\u00a0 First, it allows workers to be comfortable during their work.\u00a0 Second, Cool Biz helps conserve energy due to less demand on air conditioning in the aggregate of all businesses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Food<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/g311206ps3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1787\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/g311206ps3-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"g311206ps3\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>It\u2019s unbelievable but every visit to Japan is a culinary delight because of the incredibly diverse food items available in Japan.\u00a0 It might be assumed that every Japanese meal might be Sushi but that is really not the case.\u00a0 With nearly all meals you have a choice of conservative food, moderate food, or extreme food.<\/p>\n<p>I enjoyed two especially memorable dinners for this quick trip and one was to Korean BBQ and the other was to Yakitori. \u00a0For Korean BBQ it&#8217;s basically a do-it-yourself type dining. \u00a0They bring various meat and vegetable items and you BBQ them yourself. \u00a0It&#8217;s quite fun even though you do a majority of the work! \u00a0We had a great time and these types of experiences always produce great memories.<\/p>\n<p>Also, for this particular trip we were treated to\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Yakitori (<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Yakitori\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Yakitori)<\/a>\u00a0which is everything Chicken!
