\"Megadeth_-_Peace_Sells..._But_Who's_Buying-\"<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The song\u00a0\u2018Wake Up Dead\u2019<\/em><\/strong> by Megadeth has been a favorite of mine from the first time I heard it.\u00a0 As the lead track for Megadeth\u2019s \u2018Peace Sells\u2026 but Who\u2019s Buying?\u2019\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>album<\/a>, \u2018Wake Up Dead\u2019<\/strong><\/em> was not the most popular song on the album due to the smashing success of other singles such as the title track, \u2018Peace Sells\u2019<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 However,\u00a0\u2018Wake Up Dead\u2019 <\/strong><\/em>certainly does not disappoint heavy-metal header-banger enthusiasts in the least.<\/p>\n

As always Megadeth delivers a great sound for the song that is groovy if you like heavy metal music but this song has particular harmony among the sound and lyrics that is uncanny. \u00a0The song itself is a short-story about someone getting home from a late-night of drinking and crawling into bed with a wife that might bit a tad upset (to say the least).<\/p>\n

The sound:<\/strong>\u00a0 While \u2018Wake Up Dead\u2019<\/em><\/strong> has all the common attributes of the Megadeth sound, there certainly is a unique rhythm and cadence of this particular song that flows beautifully with the lyrics.\u00a0 It\u2019s almost as-if Dave Mustaine<\/a> himself had lived some of these described life events personally:<\/p>\n

\u201cI had too much to drink,<\/em><\/p>\n

Said I was out with the boys,<\/em><\/p>\n

I creep in my bedroom,<\/em><\/p>\n

I slip into bed,<\/em><\/p>\n

I know if I wake her,<\/em><\/p>\n

I’ll wake up dead\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The lyrics:<\/strong>\u00a0 The tone and demeanor in which \u2018Wake Up Dead\u2019<\/em><\/strong> is performed by Dave is what I personally love about this song.\u00a0 Definitely check-out some of his YouTube performances if you have a chance because these videos much better capture the spirit of the song.\u00a0 For some reason to me the word \u2018ironic\u2019 wants to be an appropriate one-word description of \u2018Wake Up Dead\u2019<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n
