{"id":1512,"date":"2014-04-27T20:33:08","date_gmt":"2014-04-28T03:33:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/?p=1512"},"modified":"2014-04-27T22:04:11","modified_gmt":"2014-04-28T05:04:11","slug":"japanese-raumen-museum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/japanese-raumen-museum\/","title":{"rendered":"Japanese Raumen Museum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today, 4\/25\/2014, another busy but great trip to Japan is \u2018in the books\u2019 as they say.\u00a0 All that\u2019s left is a short walk to the train station, a 1 \u00bd hour express train ride to the airport, a few hours of waiting and then a joyous 10 hour flight home.<\/p>\n<p>This is the part of traveling to Japan that gets particularly interesting.\u00a0 It\u2019s basically Groundhog Day where I get to relive a period in-time in which I had already experienced.\u00a0 I\u2019ll be leaving Japan at 3:55pm on Friday afternoon and arrive home at 12:40pm Friday.\u00a0 Do the math for yourself.\u00a0 Yes, that\u2019s right; I will land in the US 3 hours and 15 minutes BEFORE I left Japan 10 hours earlier!\u00a0 Living the same day two times is absolutely a trip.<\/p>\n<p>As I have written previously many times, one of the consistent great things about traveling to Japan is the wonderful people and culture.\u00a0 That part of visiting never disappoints.\u00a0 This particular trip featured some new highlights and I would like to share those experiences.<\/p>\n<p><b>Raumen Museum<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/musuem.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1513 alignleft\" style=\"margin: 10px;\" alt=\"musuem\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/musuem.png\" width=\"246\" height=\"345\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/musuem.png 246w, https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/musuem-213x300.png 213w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 246px) 100vw, 246px\" \/><\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>We visited the Shin-Yokohama Raumen Museum.\u00a0 It was great fun and we ate two lunches.\u00a0 One lunch was a mild-flavored ramen and the other was a more hot-and-spicy flavor.\u00a0 Both were delicious!\u00a0 The Museum itself was awesome.\u00a0 All the storefronts had a different theme and felt like a Hollywood movie-set with all the various settings.<\/p>\n<p>The environment was so much fun. \u00a0In the courtyard of the museum, pictured left, the security officers were teaching young school-kids how to play games and such.<\/p>\n<p>Below is a brief summary of the Raumen Museum:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.raumen.co.jp\/english\/\">http:\/\/www.raumen.co.jp\/english\/<\/a>\u00a0 Shin-Yokohama Raumen Museum was founded on March 6th, 1994 as the world&#8217;s first food-themed amusement park. From the start, our concept has been to be the one-stop place to enjoy the flavors of this national dish from renowned shops across Japan without stepping on a plane.<\/p>\n<p><b>Tokyo Dome Baseball<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/tokyo-dome.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1515 alignleft\" style=\"margin: 10px;\" alt=\"tokyo dome\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/tokyo-dome.png\" width=\"349\" height=\"259\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/tokyo-dome.png 349w, https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/tokyo-dome-300x222.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 349px) 100vw, 349px\" \/><\/a><\/b><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Another highlight for this particular trip was attending a professional Japanese baseball game.\u00a0 This game featured the Rakuten Golden Eagles and Seibu Lions.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/eagles-vs-lions.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1523\" alt=\"eagles vs lions\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/eagles-vs-lions.png\" width=\"195\" height=\"93\" \/><\/a>The Eagles were the home team and their fans were extremely passionate however the Lions also had some extremely loud supporters as well.\u00a0 Some of the Lions fans included drums, trumpets, flag-waving, organized chanting; showing great team spirit.<\/p>\n<p>The game itself was a blow-out and the end-result was never really in question.\u00a0 The Eagles scored at-will in the first few innings and built a 5-0 lead, never to be relinquished.\u00a0 The final score of 6-1 did not accurately portray how much Rakuten dominated this game.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Baseball Beer at Tokyo Dome!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1518 alignleft\" style=\"margin: 10px;\" alt=\"beer\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/beer.png\" width=\"229\" height=\"309\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/beer.png 229w, https:\/\/www.kevinneal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/beer-222x300.png 222w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 229px) 100vw, 229px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The game was held at the famous Tokyo Dome.\u00a0 The Dome was pretty typical of traditional stadiums with a few exceptions.\u00a0 First, there was no parking lot for cars.\u00a0 All the fans, including us, were transported via train or some other means of public transportation.\u00a0 Second, there were no, or meager, lines to enter the stadium or get food and drink.\u00a0 Everything is always so efficient.<\/p>\n<p>The food at the game was quite similar to American baseball with a few exceptions.\u00a0 The concession stands included typical items such as popcorn, souvenirs and drinks.\u00a0 The extreme enthusiasm in which the Japanese people celebrate friendship is a noticeable, positive, experience.<\/p>\n<p>One of the extreme highlights of the baseball game was the &#8216;beer girls&#8217;. \u00a0There was nothing not to like about this. \u00a0They had quantities of them (check), they had kegs\/booze strapped to their backs (check) and they all had cheerful attitudes (check)! \u00a0All kidding aside, the sincere enthusiasm for working and having fun was absolutely refreshing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today, 4\/25\/2014, another busy but great trip to Japan is \u2018in the books\u2019 as they say.\u00a0 All that\u2019s left is a short walk to the train station, a 1 \u00bd hour express train ride to the airport, a few hours of waiting and then a joyous 10 hour flight home.
